Growing the Base (Coding Dojos, Learning Strategies)

Page history last edited by Peter Seale 15 years ago

How to grow the base:

Redefine Agile, define areas where Agile requires and encourages software development discipline.

Create Houston Agile Users Group (agilehouston.org)

            Combine common interests across methodologies

Define goals of group. Is it to dispute the methodologies of others or is it to create better software?

How do you change the culture across the board? Is it possible to redefine what we do? I think this is the biggest question facing the entire industry.

Ways to adopt a solid software methodology: Improve the craftsmanship defined activities regardless of label of preferred method.

Teach classes on how to do TDD, process improvement, Scrum, etc. within the context of a meeting. Grow community from a teaching/mentoring perspective.

How do you reduce friction overall? Dogmatic approaches do not work. Make reducing friction a priority.

Establish pilot project mentality for adoption in groups.

Use basic marketing techniques to target specific audiences on the web.

Random note: TDD should be fully investigating, run mini Scrums.
