J's Goals (inside MSFT)
- Create a list of .NET Oss apps, with ratings and user comments allowed
- "Adopt an OSS Project" program for DPE
OSS Users don't care what technology or even if it is Open Source
OSS ... Why do developers use it? I can tinker with it. But I need to know the language.
Microsoft needs to stop the FUD about Open Source ... don't ever see a MSFT person dispute that
OS Applications being used:
Using WordPress
Spring.NET
Transaction management, precoded attributes for AOP
nUnit, nHibernate, nAnt,
iCSharpCode
SharpDeveloper
IDE
Step back from VS but still very good
Can use the code editor and use it as a separate component
ScrewTurn Wiki
FlexWiki
PocketTwit
Recourse for someone starting an open source project
Can someone get licenses? Is there a way to get them?
BizSpark for startups.
Qualifications
HTC, SLDNUG are network providers
Microsoft Under attack from certain Open Source projects
It's more likely to start an OSS project than submit patches
Education ... (i.e. How to submit a patch? )
More Projects:
StructureMap
mvUnit
zangUnit
SubSonic
CSharpTest.net
ActiveMQ
ESB, plugs into Java, .net
www.ohloh.com - has a list of open source projects, pulls from various source.
