"let add x = x + 1"

What is F#?  Why use it?

The basics of F# were covered, including the thought process of functional programming, as well as it's importance to the problem of concurrency and multithreading.

The talk focused mostly around some of the basic concepts.  Code was shown to pound home the fact that functinoal programming is not object oriented programming.  F# isn't simply a new language, it's the beginning of a brand new way of thinking about programming, and is going to be a key component in solving some of the problems that arise from the new way computer hardware architectures are defined.
